About us
Our team at the Sydney Anglican Offices are dedicated to supporting the growth of God’s Kingdom by providing valued services to churches and organisations across the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.
This role sits within Sydney Anglican Services, which exists to provide the Synod of the Diocese with the corporate capacity to manage the affairs of the Diocese. We mainly do this by providing the Synod, other Diocesan organisations and parishes with a range of professional services.
Our services include providing strategic and missionally aligned support to those responsible for both the oversight and day-to-day functions of our 260 parish workplaces.
About the role
The Parish HR Partner role was established in 2020 to support parishes across the Diocese in creating healthy, effective, and Christ-centred workplaces. Since then, the role has built a strong foundation for providing HR support, enabling parishes to navigate workplace matters with confidence and care.
This is a unique opportunity to combine your professional HR expertise with your Christian faith to serve and strengthen local church communities. You will achieve this by -
- Working closely with the regional bishops to ensure sound workplace practices are understood and followed in our parishes.
- Developing a deep understanding of the nature of our ordained and lay workers in the Sydney Anglican parish context.
- Providing strategic and operational HR support to parish leadership teams.
- Developing and driving strategic HR initiatives to address and grow healthy and strong workplace relationships in parishes.
- Proactively addressing systemic issues that impact the effective functioning of parishes.
- Supporting change management and HR systems implementation across parishes.
About You
The successful applicant will be someone who has extensive experience in Human Resources, who is passionate about delivering high-quality HR support and who is able to develop a deep understanding of the nature of ordained and lay ministry in the Sydney Anglican parish context. You will have –
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related field.
- Proven HR generalist experience, ideally in a not-for-profit or faith-based context.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing others and building strong relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience and/or knowledge of the structure and operations of the Sydney Anglican Diocese is an advantage.
