Melbourne-based | ~5 hrs/week to start | Growth role
Why this role exists
Between running Aussie Founders Club, Kairos Recruitment, and PeopleStack, I’m producing a steady stream of content - newsletters, events, webinars, meetups, podcasts. Right now, too much of that content is stuck on my laptop instead of reaching the people who need to see it.
This role is about making sure our content - especially videos and recordings - gets out into the world consistently. It’s a hands-on opportunity for someone early in their career who wants exposure to the startup world while sharpening their creative skills.
What you’ll be doing
- Attending AFC events in Melbourne (1–2 per month), setting up camera/mics, and editing the recordings.
- Publishing full recordings to YouTube and cutting highlights and reels for social.
- Pulling together weekly newsletters using templates in Canva, Brevo and Notion.
- Creating simple, on-brand graphics for events and recruitment client materials.
- Supporting podcast content with edited clips for promotion.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience with video and/or audio editing software (this is essential).
- An eye for clean, engaging design - Canva experience helps.
- Curiosity and initiative: you don’t just complete tasks, you experiment and try things.
- Ideally you’re already working on your own projects or side business, and want more exposure to the startup environment.
- Melbourne-based, so you can be at events in person.
What you’ll get
- A front-row seat in the Australian startup ecosystem: working with founders, investors and scale-ups every week.
- Experience across multiple projects: Aussie Founders Club (community + events), Kairos Recruitment (startup clients), PeopleStack (founder programs), and our upcoming festival, FounderFest.
- The chance to grow the role into more: producing employer brand content for clients, expanding into podcast production, or building out a full-time role over time.
- A supportive environment where you’ll learn tools and processes (newsletters, platforms, workflows) but also be trusted to run with creative work.
The practicals
- Start with ~5 hours per week.
- Flexible around events and editing deadlines.
- Pay: Junior/freelance rate depending on experience, with scope to increase as the role grows.
- Remote, with some in person work / event attendance in Melbourne.
How to apply
We’d love to hear from you if this role sounds like the right fit.
As part of your application, please record a short video (2–3 minutes max) introducing yourself and sharing more about your video, audio, or creative experience. Tell us:
- A project you’ve worked on that you’re proud of
- The tools or software you used
- What you learned or would do differently next time
This doesn’t need to be polished - we just want to see your experience, your style, and how you talk about creative work.
