Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
You will be an integral multi-disciplinary team member within the Emergency Department providing a high standard of care for patients in the areas of patient care, patient transport and support of the nursing care team as directed.
The Position:
- Transfer patients using all forms of patient transport to all areas of the Hospital.
- Perform manual handling of patients under supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses.
- Assist Nursing Caregivers with the care of patients.
- Maintain safe environment for patient contributing to patient comfort needs.
- Contribute to an efficient and timely patient admission, transfer and discharge process.
- Provide focused supervision of a particular patient(s) as directed by Registered/Enrolled Nurse to eliminate risk to particular patient(s) eg provide companion support
- Respond to patient’s needs/call bells and implement prompt appropriate action or referral to the Registered Nurse.
- Order ward supplies and requirements as required.
- Seek appropriate information to ensure quality patient care.
- Attend unit/other meetings as required/requested.
- Respond to patient complaints in an appropriate manner.
- Liaise with nursing caregivers to ensure patients receive appropriate diet/meals. Assist with patient feeding as directed by Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurse.
You will have a Certificate III in Health Service Assistant (Client/Patient Services) or similar or be currently studying in a health-related field at tertiary level. You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work with minimal supervision whilst identifying priorities.
To succeed you will have a knowledge of principles of manual handling and basic cleanliness and hygiene standards.

We can offer you
- Salary: $52,494 to $54,158 (unqualified - pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
- Salary: $55,759 to $57,423 (qualified – pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
- Permanent part time position working 30 hours per week
