The opportunity
You will assist with presentation standards of the Penguin Encounter exhibit and undertake animal training, husbandry and exhibit maintenance tasks for the Antarctic penguins to maintain excellent health.
- Assist with presentation standards of Penguin Encounter exhibit including snow blows, ice cleaning and removal.
- Develop an understanding of animal training and conditioning techniques and behavioral enrichment to maintain appropriate behavioral management of penguins.
- Perform relevant education talks and interactive tours to provide an educational experience to guests and students.
- Previous experience with preventative health, behavioral management, enrichment and husbandry of birds is desirable.
- Bachelor of Science degree or Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care is essential.
- Able to work in cool environments ranging from -1.0C to +10.0C
- A level of fitness required to complete all tasks in assigned area.
- Available to work on any day including weekends.
