Primary objective
Provide high level operational services and advice to support the ongoing improvement and promotion of people, safety and culture focussed
functions and programs specifically; incident and hazard management, WHS compliance, onboarding, recruitment and training for the Southern
region offices.
Context statement
The People, Safety and Culture branch is responsible for leading workforce strategies to attract, retain and develop capability to build a skilled and
committed workforce within a supported, safe and connected environment. The branch provides support services across the agency (including
regions) on all workforce matters with a focus on employee wellbeing and culture, workforce planning, work health and safety, employee
onboarding, business improvement support, recruitment and training and capability.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage and action reported incidents and hazards within the Southern region through Figtree online system as well as provide high level
advice, guidance and coaching to agency employees and management on a range of WHS to reduce incidents and hazards and take proactive
methods to reduce risks.
2. Provide support to employees and management on potential injuries through early intervention strategies and processes.
3. Provide attraction and recruitment advice, guidance and support services including onboarding activities and position evaluations.
4. Collate, analyse, draft and prepare correspondence using relevant data for the branch for internal and external requirements.
5. Action and respond to People, Safety and Culture operational enquiries for the Southern region including monitoring the generic email
accounts.
6. Assist facilitating training programs, sessions and expo showcases in the Southern region as per the training and capability program.
7. Assist the Southern region organise, coordinate and administer office’s Social Clubs, events and fundraising activities in conjunction with the
branch developed programs.
8. Follow service quality standards, internal policies, procedures, and legislative requirements to ensure high quality service and advice is provided
that exemplifies best practice and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed experience in people focussed operational services providing best practice advice and support to a range of stakeholders.
2. High level written and verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with conceptual, analytical and research skills.
3. Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation in a people and safety focussed environment.
4. Demonstrated experience in problem solving, investigative, planning, and organisational skills including the capacity to successfully handle
multiple, complex, high priority tasks concurrently.
5. Sound demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain key relationships with various stakeholders (internal and
external) to positively influence safe work practices.
6. Demonstrated experience to effectively use a suite of computer application and business systems efficiently and effectively.
7. Mature outlook to work cooperatively as a team member to maintain positive working relationships at all levels and to promote a positive
image of the department.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary or diploma qualification in WHS, or HR and Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
2. Hold a first aid certificate or ability to obtain.

Ability and willingness to work in remote areas for short periods. Travel via four-wheel drive vehicles, light aircraft, or other means, together
