The role:
As a Feed Technician at our Proserpine-based prawn farm, you will be essential to our farm's success, ensuring our prawns receive the precise amount of feed at the right time. Your work directly contributes to the health and quality of our stock. You will be responsible for the maintenance and optimisation of our automated feeding systems, working closely with the operations team to achieve the best possible results.
This is a full-time contract position concluding in April/May 2026, operating on a 2/2/3 roster (working 7 days per fortnight).
Responsibilities:
- Operating and managing automated feeding systems to ensure optimal prawn health and growth.
- Conducting regular inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of feeders, hydrophones, and feed pipes.
- Proactively identifying and resolving mechanical issues with feeding equipment to minimise downtime.
- Collaborating with the farm operations and central feed teams to refine and optimise feeding strategies.
- Strictly adhering to all company quality assurance and safety standards and procedures.
Role requirements:
- A strong mechanical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work confidently in challenging conditions, including in and around water.
- Reliability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and a demonstrated ability to follow instructions precisely.
- A commitment to working the full season on a 2/2/3 roster.
- Must have reliable transport and the legal right to work in Australia.
- An eagerness to learn, adapt to new challenges, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Role offerings:
