Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Post Graduate Fellow in Neuropathology to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital!
The RPAH Department of Neuropathology provides best practice diagnostic neuropathology expertise to RPA and the broader NSW medical community on a wide variety of neurosurgical and forensic neurological specimens. Specialist diagnostic services include: tissue-based diagnostic services for RPA Neurosurgery and Neurology departments and the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, using brain biopsies and brain tumour resections to diagnose a wide variety of brain disease; a second opinion service for complex brain biopsy cases from across the state and internationally; a comprehensive NATA-accredited molecular testing service for brain tumours; NSW state referral laboratory for biopsy and autopsy diagnosis of atypical/rapidly progressive dementias including Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease (CJD) diagnosis; state-wide forensic neuropathology services provided to all three NSW forensic hubs; non-Coronial autopsy neuropathology for complex neurological disease; muscle biopsy pathology in conjunction with the nerve and muscle laboratory; and biobanking comprised of the Australian Sports Brain Bank, Australian Veterans Brain Bank, MS Australia Brain Bank, and Neuropathology Tumour and Tissue Bank.
The Post Graduate Fellow will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Neuropathology (including histopathology, muscle pathology, CJD and forensic autopsy neuropathology) at the level of Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Neuropathology Department and working collaboratively with the RPA Hospital and the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory as required. They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
