About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2026
The Principal Policy Analyst will review the Industrial Urban Development Program processes and outputs and develop an improved product to serve internal and stakeholder needs for data and insights. It is expected the Principal Policy Analyst will utilise their well-developed skills in quantitative research and understanding of land use and economic processes, examine existing and new data sources and liaise with stakeholders to improve data collection, use, understanding and application. In this role you will apply your technical expertise to find innovative solutions that will inform strategic planning and improve research outcomes to create thriving places and connected communities.

Position Outcomes
- Administrative and Corporate Support: Contributes to strategic corporate initiatives and is responsible for implementation.
- Communication: Represents own work area with external stakeholders and effectively manages feedback.
- Knowledge and Proficiency: High level expertise in field or discipline on urban planning, land use, housing and demographic trends to support evidence-based decision making and respond to emerging issues.
- Operational Service Delivery: Provides highly specialist services or expert advice on service delivery.
- Policy and Projects: Responsible for implementation of endorsed strategic policy within the functional area of land use planning and development.
- Accountability and Frameworks: Participates in strategic planning and contributes to strategic decision-making process for the Department.
- Technical Specialist: Subject matter expert that conceptualises, initiates, implements, promotes and evaluates complex and innovative technical programs.

Technical capability
- Reporting (Accomplished) - Understands the structure and quality of source system data and business problems to select and execute reporting processes and techniques; Uses exploratory environments to create valuable insights and prototype models; Organises data and performs unstructured and predictive analysis, data cleansing and data modelling.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- Tertiary qualifications in urban planning, economics or related field
- Experience/skills in statistical / data analysis & research
- Experience relevant to the accountabilities and capabilities of the role.
