About the Role
As the Project Accountant, you will be supporting one of our major road infrastructure projects delivering the MRPV (Major Road Projects Victoria) initiative in Melbourne. You will work closely with the Commercial team and wider project team in the provision of management and cost accounting and be responsible for the integrity of the projects accounts.
The successful applicant will;
- Ensure appropriate application of project cost coding structure for all costs incurred
- Manage the accrual process and prepare journal for project accruals and adjustments
- Ensure timely submission and assist in preparation of progress claim and tax invoice to client
- Provide detailed, accurate and relevant reporting and commentary by the specified deadlines on forecasts, budget and cash flow to the project team and corporate finance team
- Ensure robust financial reporting across the project delivery team
- Management of Project Bank Account in accordance with MRPV requirements
- Provide finance support to project management team
- Meet all month end deadlines
- Review current processes for management accounts preparation and provide recommendation for streamlining across the business
- Be responsible for the accounting integrity of the project accounts and general ledger
- Standard Site hours as required from the project - North Blackburn site location
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:
- Tertiary qualification in an accounting related discipline
- 5+ years post graduate experience
- CPA/CA qualification is highly regarded
- Previous experience in the construction industry highly regarded
- Experience with Victorian government infrastructure projects preferred
