About the role
As the Community Engagement Ranger, you will be responsible for key delivery of community engagement, environmental and customer service expertise, including a strong willingness to facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships with the community sector. This includes the key liaison with community groups, volunteers and sporting clubs at Yarra Bend Park. You will actively identify and connect with partners and community networks, including with the community, education and health sectors to increase community participation in parks, through education and interpretation, volunteering, citizen science and other programs that promote and benefit the physical, mental, cultural, spiritual and social health of communities.
You will also be involved in operational management of Yarra Bend Park and in assisting the broader Lower Yarra Team deliver its operational goals. We are a dedicated team of rangers managing the parklands in the lower reaches of the Yarra River which include many significant billabongs, rare plant communities and threatened species.
We're looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated experience in implementation of community engagement, natural resource management, outdoor education, volunteering or community health programs.
- Experience in developing and leading engagement programs and working closely with stakeholders and volunteer groups.
- Previous experience in self-management and supervisory skills.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
