The position is based in Accor's flagship Canberra hotel, Novotel Canberra, conveniently based in the city centre opposite the light rail. We are a 286-room hotel with 8 conferencing and event facilities hosting all events from Corporate groups to sports teams.
Job Description
We are seeking a friendly and professional Reservations Sales Agent to join our team at Novotel Canberra! As a key member of our Reservations Team, you will be responsible for assisting guests with their bookings, providing exceptional service, and maximising revenue opportunities. This includes:
- Providing knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate service to both external and internal guests
- Answering calls promptly, handling each interaction with care and accuracy, and displaying brand-aligned professionalism
- Managing guest bookings in our PMS system (Opera) with precision and attention to detail
- Maximising occupancy by understanding our rate structures, seasonal offerings, and property features
- Staying up to date on all hotel products, services, and special promotions — both on-site and across surrounding properties
- Ensuring special requests are communicated clearly and followed through across departments
- Supporting the Sales team by passing along potential leads or opportunities
- Promoting loyalty through fluency in the Accor Loyalty Programme
Qualifications
- Previous experience in reservations or customer service, ideally in a hotel environment
- Confident using computer systems, including Microsoft Office; OPERA PMS experience is preferred
- Strong communication skills in spoken and written English
- A genuine passion for delivering excellent guest service
- Professional, approachable, and able to build rapport easily — both in person and over the phone
- Culturally sensitive, comfortable communicating with people from diverse backgrounds
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently or as part of a team
- Organised with strong time management and multitasking skills
- Flexible with work hours, including weekends and holidays
