A position is available for a Resident Medical Officer – General Rotations at Orange Health Service.

About Orange Hospital

Focusing on innovative models of care, Orange Health Service is the largest rural hospital in NSW and the regional teaching, referral and trauma centre for the Central West. The 520 bed campus has a 150 bed general hospital, with five operating suites and 60 specialised treatment areas.
Opened in 2011, services include FACEM-staffed emergency, inclusive of trauma; level 5 intensive care, medical, general and specialist surgical; obstetrics; paediatrics; level 4 maternity; dialysis; dental; cardiology, stroke, telestroke, interventional cardiology; radiation oncology; ambulatory care; rehabilitation; sub-acute/non-acute; diagnostic and a range of primary and community health services.
The hospital has one of the largest regional clinical trials units conducting a range of trials (incl tele‐trials and phase 1 trials) across a several specialties.

Essential Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Completion of at least two (2) postgraduate years of medical practice.
  • Valid NSW Working with Children check.
  • Cleared National Police check.
  • Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.
  • To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
  • You must take all reasonable care for yourself and others and comply with any reasonable instruction, policies and procedures relating to work health safety and wellbeing.

  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
  • Adept ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and the other members of the healthcare team.
  • Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Adept good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
  • Satisfactory report of clinical performance from current Supervisor of Training.
