- Hybrid working arrangements available (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)
The Opportunity
The Coordinator Risk and Compliance has the unique chance of contributing to the ongoing re-built of the organization’s Risk Management System and leading the update of Councils risk registers on all levels. On the long term, developing and leading initiatives to create and foster a risk aware culture and support the continuous improvement of all of Councils activities will be the focus of the role.
The key objectives of the Coordinator Risk and Compliance position are to:
- Lead the development, implementation and coordination of Moonee Valley City Council’s risk management and related compliance processes
- Provide expert advice on Risk Management related questions from internal stakeholders and guide them through the Risk Management process
- Lead Councils Insurable Risk team, ensuring adequate insurance cover and handling of insurance claims
- Foster a risk aware culture to drive an uplift in risk maturity
- Deliver assurance services that support effective, ethical and compliant safeguards for Council and the community.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in management systems, business management or other related area with demonstrated relevant experience, or substantial experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and maintaining systems consistent with ISO31000 and AS/NZS ISO 9001 in complex organisations
- Demonstrated experience managing change management in a complex environment
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to utilise risk management software, develop and analyse reports and communicate in a succinct and accurate manner
- Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to gain cooperation and assistance of stakeholders to achieve objectives at all levels of the organisation
- Internal auditing qualification and experience (desirable)
- Emergency management and business continuity experience (desirable)
- Project management training (desirable)
- Train and assessor training (desirable)
Key Selection Criteria
- Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to gain cooperation and assistance of stakeholders to achieve objectives at all levels of the organisation;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, business management or other related area with demonstrated relevant experience, or substantial experience in a similar role;
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing systems consistent with ISO31000 and AS/NZS ISO 9001 in complex organisations;
- Experience in insurable risk, in particular claims handling;
- Project management training or demonstrated experience;
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant legislation;
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to develop and analyse reports and communicate in a succinct and accurate manner.
