Join our Softwood Plantation Division Tumut Region as a Roading Supervisor in a fantastic full-time permanent role. As a Roading Supervisor, you will build and maintain strong relationships while driving continuous business improvement. As a Roading Supervisor, you will lead and supervise a team of staff and contractors, building and maintaining strong relationships while driving continuous business improvement. About the role:
The Tumut Management Area of FCNSW manages 5,791kms of roads and trails, about 90km of which are sealed. These roads form the backbone of the transport network that supports a large forest industry.
We are currently looking for a Roading Supervisor to join our diverse and dynamic team. This role is responsible for the supervision of multi-disciplinary roading staff and a broad contractor base and be involved in a wide variety of activities, including:
• Ensuring the cost-effective, safe, and timely programming of road works, ongoing maintenance of forest roading infrastructure to a standard that meets harvesting, haulage, fire, stewardship, plantation stewardship and public access needs.
• Planning and implementing Forest Operational Plans for maintenance and construction of roads and crossings.
• Procurement of heavy plant contractors and materials to enable efficient scheduling and completion of works.
• Operational Compliance Monitoring to strict environment and safety compliance standards.
We would love you to have:
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team.
• Proven organisational skills - ability to plan and prioritise work, meet standards and deadlines.
• Knowledge and understanding of forestry management and protection, including weed and pest control, fire management, planning and suppression, and silviculture.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications.
• Sound experience and knowledge of roading construction and maintenance operations, including good understanding of cost/quality requirements, ideally within a forest context.
• Excellent understanding and commitment to safety within an operational environment.
• Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn plant production capabilities.
• Experience in field forest operations at grass roots or management level is desirable.
• Ability to efficiently develop site-based plans using planning systems.
• Ability to manage an operation according to the site-based plan.
• Well-developed planning, supervisory and contractor management skills.
• Well-developed communication, team building and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Knowledge of and willingness to learn Geographic Information Systems for Mapping.
• Current Drivers licence.
