As a Safer Communities Manager, your key responsibilities include:

  • Manage cases and provide advice on student safety matters relating to serious misconduct and child safety within Chisholm’s polices and protocols.
  • Ensure the preparation for support and welfare plans where an employee is a respondent or otherwise involved in a serious student misconduct or child safety matter.
  • Develop and implement an annual engagement and communication plan to promote awareness of and utilisation of Safer Communities programs.
  • Coordinate the Chisholm process for responding to harmful behaviours of a serious nature in accordance with policies for Student and Employee Codes of Conduct and best-practice approaches to threat and risk assessment and case management, referring issues to relevant internal functions where required.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the conduct of trauma-informed investigations that concern students resulting in investigation reports to inform decision making.
  • Monitor changes to legal and regulatory obligations, and best practice guidance, to ensure that prevention and response strategies and policy development are updated and continuously improved in relation to student behaviour and conduct.

ABOUT YOU

You are a highly motivated individual with well-developed skills in managing serious behavioural risks and investigations in a large and complex organisation.

Qualifications required for the role
  • Relevant qualification and/or extensive relevant experience in law, workplace relations, human resources, employee case management, psychology, forensic psychology, behavioural science, social work, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex matters involving serious misconduct, risk assessment, and/or employee conduct investigations within an organisational or educational context.
  • Registration and membership to applicable professional bodies (Desirable).
  • Formal qualifications, professional development, or experience in behavioural threat assessment and management (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks related to misconduct, employment practices, and safety within education or public sector settings (e.g., Fair Work Act 2009, Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Child Safe Standards).
