About the role
St Benedict's Catholic School, Shaw is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Officer (ASL) to commence Term 3, 2025. This role is a Fixed Term, Term Time position completing 9.5 hours per week and concludes 5 December 2025.
Typical Duties
The typical duties of the role may include:
a. Providing support to individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to participate in learning and school activities
b. Assisting students (either individually or in groups) with specific learning needs including scribing, reading, which may include providing feedback and observations to the classroom teacher(s)
c. Assisting in the support of student engagement by reinforcing appropriate student behaviour
d. Providing practical assistance to students in using classroom technology
e. Performing administrative tasks of record maintenance, producing resources (eg. Printing, laminating etc) and other classroom administrative support
f. Assisting in the maintenance of a clean and tidy classroom environment including storage facilities and assisting in setting up appropriate classroom/learning space
g. Providing routine support to students in relation to their physical needs (eg. mobility support) and personal care (eg. toileting, feeding)
Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
This position may be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process. For some positions it may be necessary for the successful applicant to be immunised against certain preventable diseases in order to minimise the risk of transmission.
Desirable Criteria
- Cert III in Education Support or a commitment towards completing this qualification
- First Aid qualification or a willingness to complete.
