About the opportunity
Reporting to the ‘Head of Industry, Policy & Regulatory Affairs’, you will be accountable for maintaining strategic, trusted relationships with government and regulatory bodies and industry associations, in collaboration with others across Australia Post. This role works closely with the Government Affairs team and the Shareholder Liaison team.
What you’ll deliver with us
- Identifying risks and opportunities for Australia Post in the external environment arising from government policy and regulatory activities, parliamentary inquiries, and industry activities
- Provisioning of strategic policy and regulatory advice to the business on emerging risks and opportunities in the external landscape through research and intelligence gathering
- Leading and developing comprehensive policy and regulatory advocacy positions on agreed priority topics impacting Australia Post
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand the unique operational and community expectations on Australia Post
- Involving in the development of persuasive policy and regulatory submissions to various government departments (at all levels)
- Engaging with government bodies, industry and industry associations to drive support and understanding of Australia Post’s positions
About you
You will be expected to drive the day-to-day work, demonstrating a proactive and strategic approach to the broad policy and regulatory matters facing Australia Post. You demonstrate a high level of resilience and a solution-focused mindset in navigating complex and quickly evolving environments. You lead by example, fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and integrity while inspiring others to do the same.
- 5+ years’ experience in a public policy or regulatory affairs role, delivering outcomes for both reactive and proactive work
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive own portfolio of work
- Ability to think strategically about the various considerations for Australia Post, including our role as a Government Business Enterprise and how this may intersect with policy and commercial considerations
- Relevant tertiary qualification in political science, public policy, economics, or a related field is welcome, but not necessary
