About the team and the role
The Planning & Delivery team delivers critical planning, design and the capital building and infrastructure program that enable Sydney Airport to achieve its strategic objectives. Planning & Delivery adopts a customer centric approach to our engagement with all internal stakeholders, providing transparency and demonstrable value for money in our dealings with external stakeholders and delivering its results in a way that mitigates unplanned disruptions to ongoing airport operations for all our stakeholders, travelers and the public.
As the Senior Airspace Protection Officer, you will support the Planning & Delivery team using Bentley MicroStation and other CADD software, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and SYD policies.
You will evaluate protected airspace to maintain the safety, efficiency, and regularity of air transport operations at Sydney Airport.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Provide timely, cost effective, quality computer aided drafting and planning services to the Sydney Airport Planning & Design team and other stakeholders.
- Assess & process potential intrusions of the Obstacle Surfaces in accordance with relevant Legislation.
- Provide design advice for proposed developments both on and off Sydney Airport for the purposes of safe, efficient, and compliant use of the airfield.
- Understand relevant Federal & State legislation and standards in accordance with SYD policies and guidelines.
- Maintain Obstacle Charts in accordance with mandatory legislative requirements.
About you
- Associate Diploma or equivalent in a relevant discipline, along with experience in an aviation environment.
- High customer service awareness, management knowledge, and proficiency in computer skills, including CADD, are essential.
- Specialised knowledge of airport regulations, standards, and procedures, design fundamentals, and airport operating standards is required.
- Familiar with Obstacle Limitation Surfaces, relevant regulations and orders, civil/survey drafting methods, and multi-disciplinary engineering works related to aircraft movement areas.
- Solid understanding of airport operations, including regulations, standards, and procedures from authorities like CASA, ICAO, and Airservices.
- Familiarity with Sydney Airport procedures and knowledge of Obstacle Limitation Surfaces, along with relevant regulations and orders.
