We're looking for a dynamic Senior Finance Business Partner with a strong focus on the preparation of Management Reporting on an organisational basis together with the development and preparation of Council’s budget, preparation of periodic reports, monitoring total Council performance against budget and financial systems operations. Contribute to the operations of Finance through active teamwork and effective performance of the key responsibilities and duties of the position.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparation of the Annual Budget & Annual Financial Statements.
- Provide strategic business partnering support to key stakeholders across the organisation
- Perform accurate and timely account reconciliations to ensure financial integrity
- Manage GST and FBT taxation compliance, reporting, and lodgements
- Ensure that end of month and year end procedures are performed to provide accurate financial reporting including sub ledger disbursement.
- Provision of support to the Management Accounting Coordinator in the preparation of monthly financial reporting requirements including the integrity of all management and financial data for Council.
- Maintenance of the charts of accounts.
- Assist with the preparation, review and processing of data during the annual budget and budget review periods.
- Prepare budget reports for management overview and consideration.
- Provide positive personal contribution to the successful operation of Finance by having a customer service focus in a professional business environment.
- Assist with the preparation of Financial Council Reports.
- Assist with developing and evaluating standards of internal controls.
- Undertake annual reviews of divisional costs, including appropriate data collection.
- Prepare ad hoc reporting for Managers and Directors as required.
- Prepare ad hoc reporting for Managers, ELT and Council as required
- Liaise with Auditors
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications in the field of Accounting, Business / Commerce or a related discipline and extensive relevant experience in a similar environment.
- Knowledge of management reporting procedures and processes and the ability to participate, in conjunction with the Management Accounting Coordinator and Coordinator Finance.
- Ability to make recommendations on best practice methodology to satisfy the varying requirements of Council for financial reporting and chart of account structures.
- Highly developed skills in time management, including the ability to set priorities and plan and organise work in order to achieve objectives and goals within given timelines in an environment of fluctuating constraints.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to gain cooperation from and communicate, both oral and in written form, to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the applications and report generation – particularly highly developed PC skills in Microsoft Office suite and other financial systems would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in business partnering and providing finance support and advice to other business units within the organisation.
