This 20 week FULL TIME traineeship is your pathway to a new career. This is a Queensland Government SKILLING QUEENSLANDERS FOR WORK (SQW) program managed by BUSY GROUP- SKILL360 and hosted at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This Community Work Skills program offers tailored assistance to disadvantaged Queenslanders to gain nationally recognised skills and vocational qualifications.
GET PAID to earn while you learn! You will learn practical work skills on the job and participate in classroom theory to get a recognised national qualification.
Choose from studying CONSTRUCTION or BUSINESS (with a Retail/ Hospitality Customer Service focus)
What do I get?
- 20 weeks paid employment with the opportunity to connect to ongoing jobs.
- 5 days per week on the job practical work and RTO qualifications training
- Wrap around support including Mentor assistance, job seeking skills and Wellbeing support.
- All equipment and uniform provided.
OPTION 1: Nationally Accredited Certificate 1 in CONSTRUCTION CPC 10120
- On the job training on real world construction projects including repairing and upgrading facilities at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
- Construction White Card
Option 2: Nationally Accredited Certificate 1 in BUSINESS BSB 10115
- On the job work experience in Business at an Award-winning Tourism Attraction.
- Work across the different commercial business departments at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary including Hospitality Food and Beverage, Retail, and Visitor Services and ticketing.
Who can join?
Eligibility Criteria: To meet Government funding requirements you must:
- Be a Queensland Resident currently living in the Gold Coast area.
- Be unemployed / irregular employment for 6 months or more.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or temporary resident with visa to permanent residency.
- Be aged 15 years +
- Be out of school for 6 months or more.
- NOT previously have completed a Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) program.
- Be able to pass a National Police Check
- Be motivated and ready to commit to full attendance of a 20-week course and traineeship completion that starts on 8 September 2025.
- Regretfully applicants that do not meet eligibility criteria cannot be considered.
