CrossFit 168 Marrickville Pty Ltd is hiring a full-time Sports Development Officer to lead athlete development, with a particular focus on Weightlifting competition coaching, program design, and community engagement.
About the RoleThis position plays a central role in advancing the technical and competitive development of athletes in Weightlifting, while also supporting CrossFit programs and broader fitness education. The role also includes program design, community engagement, and contributing to ongoing coach education and gym operations. The successful applicant will design training pathways, manage athlete progress, and actively promote participation across all levels - from recreational lifters to competition focused athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote the delivery of high-quality training and development programs
- Oversee participation and ensure adequate member development in Weightlifting and CrossFit group classes
- Develop tailored programs for community groups including high school students and sporting groups, facilitating their sessions and participation in such programs
- Provide one-on-one athlete development sessions, including competition preparation and long-term planning
- Develop and oversee structured training programs for individual and group athletes, with emphasis on Olympic Weightlifting
- Monitor athlete performance and adjust training plans based on data and feedback
- Coordinate athlete preparation for sanctioned Weightlifting meets and internal competitions
- Contribute to building and maintaining a positive, inclusive training environment for all skill levels and groups
- Support program development and coach education in line with national and international standards
- Represent the club at competitions and events
- Participate in member engagement and outreach activities to grow the community
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of coaching or athlete development experience, with a strong track record in Weightlifting
- Experience coaching across varied fitness levels, including competition preparation and technical instruction
- Diploma-level qualification (AQF Level 5) or at least 3 years of relevant experience in a structured sports or coaching role
- Clear communication skills, high attention to detail, and a proactive, collaborative approach to coaching
- Strong organisational skills for managing programs, events, and athlete schedules

Salary $77,000 AUD per annum plus superannuation.
