About the role:

This role will see you undertake the day-to-day tasks involved in the decontamination, inspection, packaging, sterilisation, and process verification of reusable medical devices. You will be responsible for providing optimum reprocessing services to the Greater Newcastle Sector. You will work as a part of our skilled multidisciplinary team and will receive comprehensive onsite training and ongoing support.

Where you’ll be working:

Maitland Hospital is part of the Lower Hunter Sector of Hunter New England Health. Our facility provides a range of comprehensive services across Medical, Surgical, Mental Health, Dental, Renal, Maternity and Child services, including one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country. We have 8 operating theatres and cover surgical procedures within the specialties of General, Endoscopy, ENT, Paediatrics, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Orthopaedic elective, and trauma. Maitland Hospital operating theatres operates across 7 days with emergency access 24 hours a day. The Central Sterile Services Department works closely with the Operating Theatre providing a high-level service in sterilising instruments in a timely manner and to a high standard across a 7-day 24hr rotating roster.

About You:

We are looking for someone with proven management experience in a healthcare facility, with a strong understanding of sterilising services.

A passion for quality improvements and service enhancement projects that drive departmental and organisational success will also get you far in this role.

Requirements:

  • Sterilisation Technology Certificate II or III in health service assistance (sterilisation services) or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in sterilisation services department within a healthcare facility

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
