Position: Student Support Officer
Location: Perth, Western Australia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for student inquiries regarding academic, personal, and campus life matters.
- Provide general support, guidance, and information to students.
- Identify students who may be at risk of disengagement or academic failure and initiate early intervention strategies.
- Develop and implement tailored intervention plans in collaboration with academic staff to support student progression.
- Maintain accurate student records and meeting notes, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assist with orientation and onboarding programs for new students.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate internal and external support services (e.g., counselling, health services, academic support).
- Promote student engagement activities and foster a positive and inclusive campus culture.
- Monitor and follow up on student attendance, participation, and performance as per RTO compliance standards.
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to student support and wellbeing.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in a student support, education, or counselling role within an RTO or tertiary education setting (Preferable).
- Knowledge of Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, including ESOS Act, National Code and RTO Standards (optional)
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with a genuine passion for supporting students.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of intervention planning and experience in supporting students at risk.
- Learning Management System (LMS) experience is desirable (Optional)
