About the Role
As demand grows across our Defence High Frequency Communications contract, Babcock is looking for an experienced Subcontracts Specialist to join our team at the cutting-edge of military communications technology. Based at our International Engineering and Technology Hub in Abbotsford, this role plays a key part in delivering the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS) under the Commonwealth’s JP9101 Program.
You’ll be supporting all phases of subcontract engagement—from strategy and negotiation through to execution, contract management, and closeout. Your expertise will ensure compliance, drive commercial performance, manage subcontractor relationships, and help deliver mission-critical outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve disputes, support claims, evaluate suppliers, and develop contract terms that align with the prime contract and regulatory requirements.

To be successful, you will bring:
- Australian Citizen with a Defence Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Law or similar.
- Relevant experience in contracts, subcontracts, procurement, supply chain, finance or program management, preferably in a Defence context and/ or large corporate environment.
- Experience of engaging with national and international customers and suppliers.
- Strong experience in contract management, project management, mobilising new projects and negotiation with proven track record of successful management of suppliers and maximising cost savings.
- Commercial Defence or government experience (desirable).
