Support Worker – Putney
Casual/Part-time | 1:1 Client | Make Every Moment Count
The Opportunity
Some people can sit back and just “be there.” That’s not you. You’re the kind of person who leans in, keeps the energy alive, and won’t let someone drift into silence or switch off from the world. You believe every minute of support should matter.
We’re looking for a Support Worker who thrives on initiative and connection. You’ll be working one-on-one with a client in Putney who is rebuilding life after a stroke. He can communicate—but struggles to get started on his own. What he needs is not a sitter. He needs someone to walk beside him, to prompt, to pace, and to keep him moving forward.
What You’ll Do
- Keep engagement alive: guide conversation, spark activity, and encourage small wins throughout the shift.
- Prompt and pace: help the client take the first step, then keep the momentum going.
- Daily living with dignity: cooking, laundry, appointments, errands—done with the client, not just for him.
- Stimulate thinking and speech: bring patience and encouragement so words and choices keep flowing.
- Stay present: no phones, no zoning out, no passive “TV time.” You’re there to make every moment count.
- Record the journey: clear, concise notes after each shift showing how the client engaged and progressed.
Who You Are
- You can’t sit still when there’s someone to encourage—you’re a natural motivator.
- You have patience and energy in equal measure.
- You know how to keep someone engaged without overwhelming them.
- You’re disciplined: focused on the client, never distracted.
- You see small steps as big victories.
What You Bring
- Cert III/IV in Individual Support (Disability/Ageing) or equivalent.
- Experience in stroke, ABI (acquired brain injury), or neuro rehab.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid/CPR.
- Driver’s licence + insured vehicle.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of active, not passive, care.
What Success Looks Like
- The client is engaged the entire shift.
- He initiates more tasks with your support.
- No idle time, no TV—just meaningful connection.
- Progress notes reflect steady improvement and activity.
