Teacher Aide – Food and Technology, Hospitality Studies

The Teacher Aide – Food & Technology, Hospitality Studies provides support to teaching staff in the delivery of practical and theoretical components of hospitality and food studies programs. The successful applicant will be a qualified Teacher Aide with demonstrated experience working with students across our Middle and Senior School. They will have a passion for education and a thorough understanding of the needs of girls and be dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities and supporting every student’s individual needs.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and organisation of food studies and hospitality classes, including setting up and clearing away kitchens, dining areas, and work areas.
- Support students during practical lessons, ensuring safe and hygienic practices.
- Calculating, and scaling standard recipes to match class sizes, checking against existing stock, and generating a master shopping list, all while minimising waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all hospitality teaching spaces, including equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
- Demonstrate and support correct use of kitchen equipment and tools where appropriate.
- Support student learning by modelling correct use of tools, equipment, and safe kitchen practices.
- Encourage and maintain cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene in food preparation areas, kitchens, and dining spaces.
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining kitchen inventories, including ordering, receiving, and storing food and equipment.
- Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment, encouraging student engagement and wellbeing.

Ensure adherence to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), food safety, and hygiene regulations.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements - Current Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Current CPR/First Aid Qualification
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (desirable)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across the school community
- Adaptability and flexibility to respond to the changing needs of the school environment
- A collaborative approach, working with staff across all departments
- High level of organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Must be able to support the Anglican ethos of the St Hilda’s School, follow our Code of Conduct and be willing to give permission for the School to submit their details for screening with the Anglican Church’s Professional Standards Register.
