Position Information
Banora Point High School is a comprehensive secondary school with a Support Unit which has 3 classes, located in the Tweed Coast area. The student population of 520 has been stable over the last four years. The school pays respect to the traditional custodians, the Nganduwal and Goodginburra people of the Minjungbul speaking clans of the Bundjalung nation. 11% of students identify as having an Aboriginal background and less than 2% of students have a non-English speaking background requiring EAL/D (English as an additional language or dialect) support.
Our school enjoys the support of the Tweed Wollumbin Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (TWAECG). We have strong partnerships with universities, cultural institutions, businesses and community groups. Students represent the school across the north coast region and state in dance and music ensembles, a wide range of sporting activities and youth leadership groups. Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Industrial Technology - Timber and Food Technology. Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in Construction and Hospitality – Commercial Cookery providing the qualification entry benchmark is met.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to contribute to faculty and whole-school programs and build positive relationships with staff, students and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to cater for a diverse range of students through differentiated, innovative and effective teaching practices that challenge, engage and inspire students, leading to improved educational outcomes.
- Ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.
