Holroyd High School is a small, successful comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of 579 students 7-12, including 86% non-English speaking backgrounds. As a proudly diverse and inclusive institution, we place a strong emphasis on Visible Learning to build high expectations for all students, and Choice Theory to foster a culture of autonomy, collaboration, and responsibility, creating a safe and nurturing environment where all can thrive.
The school has an Intensive English Centre for newly arrived students of non-English speaking background and a support unit for students with an intellectual disability and/or autism. The school receives equity funding to support students from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach History 7-10 , Geography 7-10 and Business Studies
- Demonstrated strong subject knowledge in Stage 4–6 HSIE syllabuses and ability to design engaging, differentiated learning experiences using explicit teaching strategies that promote high levels of understanding and achievement.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and empathetically with students, teachers, and community members.
- Strong classroom management skills with a focus on building positive learning environments, promoting respectful behaviour and high expectations that encourage student responsibility.
