Your Key Responsibilities
As a Casual Academic Teacher (Physics), you will:
- Deliver high-quality academic teaching to international students in Foundation and/or Diploma programs through lectures, tutorials, workshops or lab sessions.
- Design and deliver purposeful, inclusive lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Prepare and use a range of teaching materials, including textbooks, in-house, and self-developed resources.
- Assess student performance using both formative and summative methods, and contribute to the design of tests and assessment tasks.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, as well as other key stakeholders such as academic teams, parents, and sponsors.
- Maintain clear and fair classroom management practices.
- Offer academic support through consultations and one-on-one tutorials, including study skills and guidance on university expectations.
- Complete administrative tasks such as marking, maintaining attendance records, progress reporting, and invigilation duties.
- Engage with curriculum and course development initiatives as required.
- Participate in field trips, research activities, and other academic enrichment opportunities related to your area of teaching.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, induction sessions, and professional development programs.
- Work collaboratively across departments including student services, marketing, and support functions.
- Act as a positive ambassador for UWA College and promote a supportive learning environment for all students.
- Comply with safeguarding practices and contribute to the protection and welfare of our students.
About You
We’re looking for educators who can bring experience, enthusiasm, and adaptability to our vibrant international teaching environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised degree in a relevant subject area (Physics)
- A formal teaching qualification or at least two years of relevant teaching experience, ideally with international or multilingual learners.
- A strong command of written and spoken English, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in delivering content across a variety of academic programs, class sizes, and intensities.
- Awareness of different teaching methodologies and the ability to adapt content to meet learners’ needs.
- An understanding of cultural diversity and the challenges faced by international students transitioning to higher education.
- The ability to independently plan lessons, assess student progress, and reflect on teaching effectiveness.
- A flexible, student-centred approach with strong organisational and IT skills.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
