The centre offers a supportive learning environment with a focus on improving literacy, numeracy, vocational skills, and life skills to help students build confidence and open pathways for their future. If you're committed to fostering equity and excellence in education, you will play a vital role in empowering young people in detention, helping them develop skills for a positive future.
BYETC has a strong, collaborative, cross-campus team culture. Our staff are passionate about positively influencing our students, many of whom have had disrupted or negative experiences of schooling and often have lived through complex trauma and disadvantage.
As a mathematics teacher at BYETC you will be part of a large faculty of maths teachers. New staff to the school are provided with a comprehensive induction program and are afforded opportunities to work shadow their colleagues to develop an understanding of teaching in detention prior to taking their own lessons. Teaching staff are generally supported in classes by a Youth Justice Youth Worker and a teacher aide.
