Position Information
Sydney Girls High School is an academically selective secondary school with entrance in Year 7 via the NSW Department of Education's selective school test and subsequently, in Years 8-11, through a school-based enrolment procedure prioritising academic and co-curricular achievement. Situated in Moore Park, Sydney students, 89% of whom are from Non English Speaking Backgrounds, travel from a widespread geographic area to attend the school which is well-known for its academic success and emphasis on co-curricular education. Over and above the intellectual domain, the school actively seeks to foster participation in all domains of the High Potential and Gifted Education Policy, with strong programs in the physical, creative and socio-emotional domains. As the oldest continuous public girls high school in NSW, the history of the school is a prominent feature, with many successful alumnae returning to school to support and inspire current students. There is a strong emphasis on evidence-based practices and community consultation to ensure that processes and practices, including teaching and learning, wellbeing, and administration, are dynamic and culturally responsive.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Design & Technology and Information & Software Technology.
- Willingness to teach Software Design & Development and Engineering Studies.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of a faculty and contribute to developing teaching programs and resources that support the engagement of high potential students.
- Willingness to contribute to co-curricular and enrichment activities (e.g., robotics or coding clubs, competitions, community partnerships) to enhance student learning and engagement.
