About the role


The City of Greater Dandenong is seeking a Team Leader Reactive Tree Maintenance to lead the delivery of arboricultural maintenance services focused on reactive and urgent works across the municipality.

This newly established position reports to the Coordinator Urban Forest and plays a key role in ensuring the safety and integrity of Council’s tree assets.

You’ll oversee the daily coordination of contractors delivering tree pruning, removal, and urgent works in response to customer service requests and weather events. The role includes scheduling works, verifying quality, liaising with internal teams and stakeholders, and helping ensure a consistent and risk-based approach to tree maintenance.

About you

You’re an experienced arboriculture professional with a strong understanding of tree maintenance practices, industry standards and the importance of delivering responsive, high-quality services. You’re confident coordinating contractors, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in ensuring Council’s tree assets are well managed and maintained.

Key requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Arboriculture, and or Certificate 5 Arboriculture
  • Several years experience working in local government or a similar environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritise and manage workloads of staff and contractors in a multi disciplinary environment to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Arboriculture maintenance contracts, with high level and problem solving skills with the capacity to inspire and support innovative thinking
  • Demonstrated understanding and use of performance, safety and quality management systems.
  • Understanding of relevant current state and federal policies, guidelines and legislation.
  • Knowledge and skills in contemporary management practices, staff management, performance management, staff development, change management and business excellence.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication, listening, liaison, advocacy, facilitation skills, as well as excellence in customer service delivery.
  • Proven commitment to customer service principles and a demonstrated ability to provide a professional service to a diverse range of clients.
  • Demonstrated Intermediate to Advanced PC literacy, incorporating MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrated willingness to work a flexible spread of hours including availability to regularly work after hours as required, including occasional weekends.
