This exciting opportunity to join the Council as a Theatre and Events Assistant, will allow you to demonstrate your ability to showcase your excellent customer service skills. This role has a strong focus on community engagement, supporting the delivery of events and working effectively as a team to achieve positive outcomes for the Council and our local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out of Theatre front-of-house duties, which may include
- Welcoming patrons to the Theatre;
- Event ticket sales;
- Stage door attendant;
- Bar attendant;
- Providing ushering services for events checking patron tickets and directing patrons to their seats;
- Assisting with solving any ticketing issues that may arise;
- Supervising theatre entry for late comers;
- Assisting with evacuation of patrons in the event of an emergency;
- Customer servicing at the candy bar;
- General cleaning duties.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of events as instructed and under supervision across Council; and
- Work as an effective team member, supporting your supervisor and assisting volunteers and other team members
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic candidate that takes pride in providing excellent customer service across various settings. They possess the ability to follow directions, take initiative with completing job tasks and works well in a team environment. Experience working in a customer service or events roles would be highly regard.

- Sound level of communication and interpersonal skills suited to a customer service environment;
- Sound ability with the use of Microsoft Word and adaptability to learn new systems;
- Ability to manage challenging customer interactions with professionalism;
- Adaptable to various tasks with a readiness to take on diverse tasks;
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours is essential;
- Ability to work with children, including the ability to obtain and maintain a current Working with Children Blue Card (mandatory);
- Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence (minimum P1; and
- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate or willingness to obtain (highly desirable)
This position is classified under the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream B) Certified Agreement.
Salary range (age dependent) $20.09 to $36.54 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) + applicable shifts penalties.
