This is a permanent position in Cane Supply and Transport which requires shift work during the crushing season (June - December), including weekends and overtime and day work during the maintenance period (Jan - May).

Responsibilities

Ensure Continuous Cane Supply : Manage train schedules and operations to maintain a steady and reliable flow of Sugar Cane to the mill, supporting uninterrupted production.
Coordination of Train Movement : Oversee the safe and efficient movement of trains on the Herbert Region railway networks, adjusting loco schedules as needed.
Real-Time Digital Monitoring : Use advanced control systems with real-time GPS and automation tools to monitor and manage train movements, ensuring accurate scheduling and avoiding delays.
Data-Driven Decision Making : Apply big data analytics to predict issues, optimize schedules, and adjust operations based on real-time conditions, enhancing overall efficiency. Monitor and manage team performance.
Smart Safety Systems : Implement technologies to monitor rail infrastructure and train conditions, ensuring safety and immediate alerts for any abnormalities.
Personnel Supervision and Training : Supervise staff, manage associated administration, and coordinate on-the-job training for loco crews, ensuring adherence to quality control standards and efficient record-keeping.
Advanced Communication : Utilise cloud-based platforms and mobile apps for seamless communication with train drivers, production teams, and logistics managers; as well as growers and contractors regarding bin allocations and harvesting information and outside organisations.
Digital Twin Technology : Employ virtual simulation tools to model and predict operational scenarios, refining control strategies in a risk-free environment.

The Successful Candidate

To thrive in this role, you'll need a solid understanding of Cane Supply and Transport operations, a commitment to safety for yourself and your team, and great communication skills to keep everyone in the loop. You'll be tech-savvy, able to provide accurate performance updates, and adaptable to change as we continually evolve. Plus, an intermediate level of computer skills and a manual 'C' class driver's license are essential.
