THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting into the Training Supervisor Mining, the Trainer & Assessor Ancillary will be responsible for providing mobile plant training services for the Mining Production department, ensuring staff have the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver maximum performance.

This is a permanent full-time position which operates on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop mobile plant operator’s skills to improve their current skill level and hone proficiency, including use of a simulator or in physical training environments.
  • Conduct all mobile plant operator training in accordance with the site training plan, legislative requirements, AM Standards, and training needs analysis as directed by the Production Mining Superintendent and the Training Department.
  • Adapt training styles to changing operational situations while maintaining consistent work methods across the site.
  • Identify training needs as it relates to mining and other applicable work areas on-site.
  • Conduct, monitor and coordinate training assessments as required.
  • Keep accurate records of training activities in prescribed manner.
  • Assist the trainee in the knowledge of all Operating Procedures for the item of mobile plant that they are training on.
  • Control training activities as directed by the Mining Production Superintendent.
  • Perform competency assessments for operators as required.
  • Implement remedial action as required.
  • Take responsibility for the trainee and actions while training.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Minimum WA Manual C class driver’s licence.
  • Exposure to Priority Rules and MineStar (Preferred)
  • TAE Cert IV Trainer and assessor (Preferred)
  • 3+ years mining industry experience open pit mining as either a crew trainer or trainer & assessor
  • 3+ years relevant Mobile Plant Operator experience on Mining equipment; relevant to the role title
  • Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to workplace health and safety in WA
  • Mobile Plant operating skills with: Production Excavators, Dozers, Wheel Loaders, Graders, Dump Trucks and Water Carts etc
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment
