The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our Property Team within our Technical and Business Performance area predominantly dealing with a number of schemes and facilities and providing technical input throughout the broader business. As a Property Underwriter your key focus will be on achieving sustainable profit and growth for QBE through the provision of specialist advice, direction and technical support, and the delivery of excellent levels of customer service within your assigned portfolio. You’ll also underwrite business in accordance with business plans within set underwriting guidelines, service standards and individual earned underwriting authority.
Your new role
A day in the role may look a bit like this:
- Use/Develop your expertise to provide insightful change across our scheme and facilities business
- Build good working relationships with your customers, agency network and internal stakeholders
- Support the development of strategy, share knowledge and best practice
- Monitor and review the quality of underwriting activity
- Maintain strong knowledge of best practice, legislation, and compliance standards
- Deliver training to upskill agent knowledge base and enhance our proposition
- Involvement in ad-hoc projects to add value across the organisation
About you
To be successful as a Property Underwriter, you will be an insurance professional with proven Property Underwriting experience. You will also have:
- Commercial background will be an advantage
- Flexibility to work across a changing portfolio
- Strong customer/broker relationship skills and focus
- Broad understanding of Property specific underwriting
- Proven knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolio
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- A keen interest in data analytics and the mindset to apply those results within the business
- The ability to effectively collaborate and work within a national team across multiple locations
