About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Vegetation Officer who will provide dedicated support and assistance to the Senior Program Supervisor and the Senior Vegetation Program Officer roles in delivering the Vegetation Management program across assigned geographical areas in a timely, quality and compliant manner.
This role will be based within the
Essential Energy footprint
including Lismore, Ballina or
Ewingsdale
areas.
About You
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in utility vegetation management and arboriculture practices, along with a solid understanding of electricity distribution networks. Proficiency in using ICT hardware and relevant business systems is essential, as is experience in direct customer and stakeholder engagement.
Key skills include the ability to support effective program outcomes, manage contractors, and communicate clearly. Strong interpersonal abilities, particularly in influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution are vital, alongside the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidates should possess sound problem-solving and organisational
skills, and
show a willingness to undertake further training as needed.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Audit & Compliance: Conduct routine audits of vegetation work to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, contractual, and quality standards (e.g. AS4373); report non-compliance.
- Operational Support: Perform vegetation risk assessments, initiate switching requests (where qualified), and support system access for crews and contractors.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with customers, councils, and landowners to resolve complaints, obtain access, and promote positive outcomes.
- Coordination & Incident Response: Assist senior staff with performance monitoring, contractor inductions, and coordination during unplanned events.
- Advisory & Records Management: Provide
arboricultural
advice, update vegetation records in business systems, and suggest improvements to processes.
- Ethical Conduct & Inclusion: Demonstrate and promote respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion in line with company policies and the Code of Conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate III in Arboriculture (Works Coordinator specialisation)
- Drivers Licence
Note: This position is not eligible for experience-based progression. The qualifications listed as mandatory are required for this role.
