The day to day
As the WHS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving a consistent and robust approach to WHS management practice across Optus’s consumer function. Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining an understanding of Optus and relevant BU objectives, activities, and risks.
Demonstrating effective management of risks and hazards across projects and BU work activities.
Leading and participating in WHS-related incident investigations and internal/external audits.
Coaching and mentoring senior leaders to increase their WHS capability and capacity.
Implementing WHS continuous improvement projects and ensuring compliance with WHS legislative obligations.
Building and nurturing relationships with key collaborators to guarantee the steady implementation of effective WHS practices.
Why you are our next WHS Manager
You are a proven leader with outstanding technical WHS expertise and experience in complex, multi-site business operations. You have a degree or equivalent experience in OHS/Risk or a related area and a minimum of 3 years of WHS experience. Your strengths include:
Demonstrated understanding of and management of retail-related risks/hazards/controls.
Strong influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
Experience working with quality certified systems (e.g., ISO, AS/NZ).
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles to specific audiences.
Proven ability to lead and participate in WHS projects, facilitating continuous improvement of WHS management systems.
