The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Part-Time (0.6 FTE) Workplace Learning (WPL) Coordinator (non-teaching role) to join our Secondary team at Carey Harrisdale. This role is available to commence immediately and plays a pivotal part in connecting our students with meaningful workplace learning experiences that prepare them for life beyond school.
This role is perfect for someone who loves working with students, thrives on building community partnerships, and understands the power of practical learning in shaping confident, capable young people. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and passionate Curriculum Team to coordinate all aspects of our WPL programs – including Year 10 X-over, Year 11–12 placements, and VET industry experiences.
Whether you're stepping into a school-based role for the first time or looking for a purpose-driven next step in your career, this is a chance to help shape lives through kindness, courage, and connection.
What Matter Most
At Carey, we believe in developing whole people – academically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. As the WPL Coordinator, you’ll be more than a program organiser – you’ll be a champion of student growth, a bridge between school and the working world, and a calm, consistent presence for students, families, and employers.
Your strong faith, excellent people skills, and high-level organisation will help you lead with both heart and clarity.
What You Will Bring
- A vibrant and growing Christian faith, with a desire to serve in a Christ-centred community.
- Strong relational and interpersonal skills with students, families, employers, and school staff.
- The ability to manage multiple programs, timelines, and communications with grace and professionalism.
- Previous experience coordinating student work placements or working within VET/WACE pathways (desirable but not essential – we’ll support you with training).
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, networking, and building lasting partnerships.
- A deep belief in the value of experiential learning and a heart to see students flourish.
- Coordinating Year 10–12 workplace learning placements, including holiday and exam block experiences.
- Leading student induction processes including applications, interviews, and WHS training.
- Maintaining and growing a network of trusted employers who offer safe and meaningful placements.
- Communicating with parents, staff, and external providers to ensure smooth, compliant, and engaging learning experiences.
- Visiting students on placement and checking in with employers to provide encouragement and address any concerns.
- Managing resources like logbooks, student handbooks, and consent/permission systems (e.g. Consent2Go).
- Reporting on student progress and outcomes, and sharing WPL stories with the broader College community.
Carey is a community of people who long to see a world transformed by the love of God. As part of the Carey Group, our Harrisdale campus is committed to building a relational and Christ-centred environment where students are known, valued, and inspired to explore their unique God-given potential.
We are shaped by our core values of Kindness, Courage, Respect, Humility, and Integrity. These aren’t just words on a wall – they’re the heartbeat of how we lead, teach, and grow together.
