The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer (After Hours) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
To coordinate and provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inpatients and their families throughout their patient journey, during their stay at Mackay Base Hospital and contribute to the discharge planning process. The position will provide majority of supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families presenting to the Emergency Department.
This role is classified in accordance with the Phase 2 outcome provided under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. 1) 2019. A Phase 3 process will occur to confirm the classification of the role. This process may result in changes to the role description, position title and classification and remuneration levels, however there will be no loss of employment conditions or remuneration for employees.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit is an essential element of the MHHS support services and ensures the development and delivery of culturally appropriate services and models of health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families.
