The role:
We're looking for an Aquaculture Technician to join our team at our Proserpine Prawn Farm, located in the beautiful region between Airlie Beach and Bowen.
This is a full-time contract position until end of March, working 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm) on a 2/2/3 roster (two days on, two days off, three days on). You'll play a key role in maintaining animal health and ensuring optimal conditions for prawn growth in our fast-paced aquaculture environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily pond monitoring, checking prawn health, water quality and aeration systems
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Use digital systems (iPad) to record data and complete tasks
- Support the team with general farm operations as required
Role requirements:
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
- Strong attention to detail and capable of identifying potential issues early
- Reliable and safety-conscious
- Basic technology skills - comfortable using iPads
- Aquaculture/farming experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Ability to work 6am-6pm on a 2/2/3 roster
- Team player with positive attitude
- Hold a driver’s licence and have reliable transport to site
- Full working rights in Australia
