Primary objective
Lead and manage a team of audit and investigation officers in conducting internal audits and highly complex and sensitive investigations
into potential deception such as fraud, bribery, and/or corruption occurrences.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate and conduct audits and investigations ensuring the department meets its responsibilities under applicable legislation and

uses contemporary investigations methods.
2. Assist in the oversight and review of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and risk register, making enhancements as required

to ensure it remains efficient and effective for all users.
3. Undertake risk assessments to determine the level of risk to the department and implement processes for responding to these risks.
4. Prepare high level, concise, factual reports and correspondence concerning the results of audits and investigations and activities of

the Audit, Risk, and Investigation Unit.
5. Provide leadership, guidance and support to a team of audit and investigation officers.
6. Develop and maintain sound corporate management practices and processes that foster good governance aimed at ensuring

accountability, transparency and integrity.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated strong audit and investigation experience with the ability to interpret and apply legislation, examine evidence, prepare

reports, exercise sound judgement and deliver defensible recommendations.
2. Sound knowledge of audit, accounting and investigative methodologies, processes, techniques, risks and controls.
3. Demonstrated ability in understanding and interpreting accounting system information and financial accounting software along with

high level data collection, as well as qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills supported by exceptional accuracy and attention
to detail.

4. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop policies, guidelines and procedures which convey complex
concepts clearly and succinctly.

5. Relevant personal attributes including initiative, innovative and flexible solutions, forward planning, management skills, proactive
leadership, and resource management.

6. Ability to work independently in a complex and challenging business environment with excellent organisation skills and proven ability
to manage priorities, remain focused on outputs and deliver quality outcomes within tight deadlines.

Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in finance, business, accounting, law enforcement or related discipline relevant to the role.
2. A sound knowledge of the structure and business, including contract management, within the Department of Logistics and

Infrastructure.
