The Role
Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director oversees information management services, including information systems maintenance, support, and advice to customers. In this role you will provide expert advice on records and information management and contribute to the implementation of DEWRs’ Information Management Strategy and supporting frameworks and policies. You will manage external supplier contracts, library and mail services, and lead information management projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director, Information Management may include:

  • Provide expert strategic direction and advice on information management policy, complex problem solving and issues management for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute toward the implementation of the Information Management strategy and supporting policy documents.
  • Provide advice on relevant whole of government policies and strategies.
  • Deliver high quality services with a focus on engaging and collaborating with stakeholders across DEWR to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
  • Lead, manage and mentor a small team of information management professionals fostering capability development and collaboration.
  • Prepare briefing materials, reports, options papers and other correspondence, as required.
  • Manage contracts and financials for service agreements with external information providers, including library subscriptions, freight, mail, and off-site physical records storage.
