As the Team Leader in Audit within Operational Risk, you will play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating Bank activities. You will deliver objective reports to the Governor (the Reserve Bank's accountable authority), the Reserve Bank Board (through the Audit Committee), and senior management.
Additionally, you will provide expert advice on governance and risk management across the Bank as needed.
This role would suit an experienced Internal Audit Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teams in providing independent and objective assurance by reviewing the design and effectiveness of the Bank's governance, risk management framework, and controls for mitigating operational, financial, people, and strategic risks.
- Ensure that governance frameworks and controls are comprehensive and promote effective risk mitigation by management
- Guide teams to complete engagements in a positive, collaborative, and professional manner, fostering staff engagement
- Handle complex aspects of engagement scopes as needed, facilitating management’s agreement on scope and risk assessments, and offering insightful audit findings and recommendations for improvement
- Oversee coordination and planning, including resourcing, managing subject matter experts, and adhering to time and cost budgets
- Embrace innovation and create a supportive environment for experimentation during engagements, including developing data analytics routines and preparing deliverables
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Audit’s strategic/business plan, Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP), Audit Plan, and related procedures and methodologies
- Enhance your own and your team's professional skills by adhering to Audit's Training Policy and meeting continuing professional development requirements.
As a Team Leader, you must demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in:
- Proven ability to work independently and take a leadership role on audit projects
- Extensive experience in leading audit teams through complex audits and reviews
- Proficiency in computer-assisted audit techniques and tools
- Demonstrated expertise in auditing banking operations, financial services, financial markets, and financial instruments
- Advanced understanding of risk management frameworks and enterprise-wide risk management
- Expertise in risk-based auditing methodologies, including internal controls and audit procedures
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related disciplines.
Your team
You will report to a Portfolio Manager as part of the Audit Group that aspires to deliver world class services to the Audit Committee and Executive team. Part of Audit’s continued commitment is a dedicated focus on Data Analytics, Agile to influence the Bank’s risk culture and provide assurance over the Bank’s strategic initiatives. It is also responsible for conducting independent appraisals of the Reserve Bank's activities, functions, and operations to ensure that an adequate framework of internal controls have been established and is operating effectively.
