What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Devops Practice Lead you’ll be involved in;

  • Analyse existing Azure estate and design sequence of work to implement best practices
  • Design and implement fully automated CI/CD solution
  • Implement security to industry best practices – WAF/Firewalls/Routing/Monitoring/etc
  • Create and maintain isolated test environments
  • Work with Developers to introduce best development practices
  • Work with Developers to build out established build, test and analysis pipelines feeding into centralised DORA and metrics tooling, unit testing, SCA, etc
  • Configure and maintain system metrics and reporting
  • Work with the business to implement a cost reduction program for data storage solutions
  • Act as liaison between Developers and DevOps to establish good working practices and key relationships
  • Work with the architecture teams to design and develop various complex technical solutions across the estate
  • Digitised knowledge retention through tooling and process
  • Mentor other DevOps Engineers and Developers


Who we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in an area of Information Technology and/or relevant experience
  • Azure cloud (in general), and especially these services:
    • Application Insights
    • App Services
    • Function Apps
    • Service Bus
    • Azure Storage
    • Key Vault
    • App Configuration (service)
    • Front Door
    • Entra
    • Monitor (service - nice-to-have)
    • Synapse
  • Azure DevOps / GitHub
  • Azure Pipelines
  • YAML
  • PowerShell
  • Docker & Kubernetes
  • SQL, specifically SQL Server
  • Redis
  • ARM and Bicep templates
  • Experience with .Net and C# essential.
  • Experience with IaC Tools, Powershell, Azure Resource
  • Experience with security and networking
  • Monitoring and Alerting best practices
  • Experience supporting DevOps estate
  • AI Experience


What your impact and success looks like

We expect your success and impact in the early stages of your career with us to look something like this:

Within 1 month:

  • Understanding of existing infrastructure including key services, architecture.
  • Understanding development and deployment processes.
  • Established relations with your team, key stakeholders and company policies and procedures.

Within 3 months:

  • Identify and implement high impact, tactical improvements to infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes that focus on automation, security, observability and cost optimisation.
  • Improve documentation around existing infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Begin cross skilling with AWS focused Devops team members.
  • Defined strategic roadmap for DevOps next 12 months

Within 6 months:

  • Execute on the above
  • Identify further strategic improvements for the tech stack and development roadmap
  • Make significant progress on cost savings initiatives across the estate
