Community Engagement Volunteers support the Community Engagement Team to deliver a range of quality activities and events.
Days and hours required per week:
2 hours per week - flexible
Some tasks can be performed remotely.
Days and times can be flexible.
Location: Asylum Seekers Centre, Newtown, Auburn Centre for Community
Commitment Period: Minimum 3 months
Tasks of the Engagement Volunteer may include:
- We are asking for volunteers with skills in the following areas:
For Auburn
- Yoga
- Skin care
- Parenting - for any age
- Nutrition
- Art
- or propose a skill you may want to share
- Nutrition
- Art skills
- Self-care
- music group/lessons
- gardening (once a month at a local garden)
- or propose a skill you may want to share
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills including active listening skills and the ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for people seeking asylum
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
General Conditions:
All ASC staff and volunteers are required to:
- Adhere to ASC’s vision, purpose and values.
- Act at all times in accordance with ASC’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policies.
- Comply with Work, Health and Safety systems.
- Comply with Incident Management Procedures and emergency protocols.
- Demonstrate a respectful and welcoming behaviour with all people at ASC in culturally appropriate ways.
- Have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination.
- Undertake a NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement and ensure it is up-to-date.
- Support a child-safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements.
