About Us

headspace Kalgoorlie, operated by HOPE Community Services, is part of the national headspace network providing mental health, alcohol and other drug, and vocational services to young people aged 12–25.

Our team supports the Goldfields community through youth-friendly, inclusive, and evidence-based care. HOPE also operates the Goldfields Community Alcohol and Drug Service, giving us strong local connections across health, education, and youth sectors.

At headspace, we champion participation, young people are at the centre of what we do, shaping how we design, deliver, and evaluate our services.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dynamic Community Engagement Officer to lead youth engagement and mental health awareness activities across Kalgoorlie and surrounding areas. This role is all about connection — with young people, families, schools, local services, and the wider community.

You'll coordinate events, support the Youth Advisory Board, drive health promotion campaigns, and represent headspace in the community. It’s a role for someone who’s creative, collaborative, and passionate about young people having a voice.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Community awareness and health promotion

  • Youth participation and co-design

  • Event planning and delivery

  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Digital outreach and social media

  • Supporting family and friend involvement

  • Building local partnerships

  • Celebrating key dates like headspace Day, NAIDOC Week, R U OK Day, and more

You’ll Need
  • A relevant qualification in health promotion, youth work, community development, social/behavioural sciences or similar

  • Experience engaging young people and coordinating events or programs

  • Knowledge of the mental health sector and youth-related issues

  • A strong understanding of working with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, and LGBTIQA+ young people

  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills

  • Confidence using social media and digital tools to promote services

  • The ability to develop and deliver engaging, inclusive community initiatives

  • A valid driver’s licence, Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance and First Aid Certificate
