Primary objective
To provide efficient and effective administrative, procurement, and financial support to divisional teams, including regional
staff, and to liaise professionally with stakeholders across both the private and public sectors. This role ensures the smooth
operation of internal processes while delivering high-quality service and support in a team-oriented environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Prepare purchase orders for supply of goods and services, processing accounts using the accounts payable system, raise
receivable invoices to clients, cash handling and banking and investigate supply queries.
2. Act as the Katherine Research Station’s contact officer with the private sector, other public sector organisations and with
departmental employees for matters relating to the supply of goods and services.
3. Provide training to Regional Staff on procedural aspects of purchasing such as the use of Corporate Credit Cards and
Departmental systems.
4. Provide support to other positions in the work unit as needed or directed by the Executive Officer.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Good analytical and accuracy skills with the ability to analyse data effectively and maintain accuracy in financial and
administrative tasks.
2. Experience in computerised financial systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database applications.
3. Current Northern Territory drivers’ licence.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to work effectively in a team and engage with staff from diverse
cultural and professional backgrounds.
5. Demonstrated high level of oral communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
1. Some knowledge of the activities of the Department an advantage.
2. Experience in a range of procurement and financial administrative processes, including experience in accounts (payable
and receivable), processing and tracking expenditure and budgets, and travel services.
