The Opportunity
Our Oil Technical Services team supports the collection, treatment, processing, and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste. We are seeking a Chemist to join our Karratha site, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective processing of various hazardous liquid chemical waste streams.
This role offers the chance to apply your chemistry expertise in a highly regulated, safety-first industry, where your contribution has a direct impact on environmental sustainability. You will be part of a supportive team committed to innovation, compliance, and continual improvement.
You will be responsible for the treatment of chemical waste while also providing technical expertise. Other responsibilities include
- Provide technical support and guidance for the acceptance, treatment, and storage of liquid and technical waste.
- Deliver technical and analytical support to the sales team and external customers.
- Assist operations with waste management and production activities.
- Run treatability trials, select treatment methods, and validate their suitability to ensure wastes are treated safely and profitably.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
About You

You are detail-oriented and solutions-focused, you thrive in a collaborative team environment and bring strong technical expertise in chemistry and waste management.
- Degree in Chemistry, and experience working with waste or hazardous chemicals within an industrial environment.
- Previous exposure to wastewater treatment or chemical fixation and stabilisation facilities and field sampling experience.
- Proficiency in operating and calibrating laboratory instruments.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessments and preparation of work instructions.
- Accurate record-keeping skills within tightly regulated environments.
- Solid understanding of chemical handling legislation, including storage and disposal requirements.
