About Us

At headspace Esperance, we’re a passionate team of Psychologists, Social Workers, a Youth Worker, Community Engagement Officer, and a Registered Mental Health Nurse. Our Lead Agency, HOPE Community Services, also runs the Goldfields Community Alcohol & Drug Service in town.

As the only youth-focused mental health service in the region, we support young people through counselling, case management, brief interventions, group programs, and outreach.

Being a newer service in a regional location, there’s lots of variety in the role — it’s a unique chance to make a real impact and build broad experience across youth mental health.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership and oversight to our headspace Esperance centre. This is a key position responsible for ensuring the clinical integrity and alignment of services with the headspace model, while providing day-to-day support and supervision to a passionate multidisciplinary team.

This leadership role will suit a dynamic and compassionate mental health professional with a deep understanding of youth mental health, a commitment to clinical governance, and the ability to drive quality service delivery in a regional context.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical oversight and supervision of mental health staff
  • Leading clinical review, performance support and reflective practice processes
  • Ensuring services meet headspace model expectations and quality standards
  • Supporting culturally appropriate, safe, and inclusive care for all young people
  • Promoting continuous improvement in service delivery and governance
  • Delegating appropriately while retaining overall clinical responsibility

What’s on Offer

  • Full-time, permanent position based in Esperance, WA
  • Salary: $110,102.72 + super + regional allowance
  • Relocation assistance available through Rural Health West for the right candidate
  • Generous salary packaging options to increase take-home pay
  • Professional development and training opportunities
  • Supportive and passionate team environment with a strong culture of collaboration
  • The opportunity to live and work in beautiful Esperance, surrounded by white sandy beaches, national parks, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle

You’ll Need

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification and registration as a mental health clinician (e.g., Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse)
  • Relevant professional body registration (AHPRA, AASW) and mental health-specific training or endorsement
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience providing clinical supervision, conducting assessments, and delivering evidence-based interventions to young people with moderate to severe mental health concerns
  • Understanding of mental health and SEWB care for First Nations young people
  • Ability to embed clinical governance and quality improvement frameworks
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in youth mental health
  • Experience working in primary care or community mental health settings
  • Previous work in a not-for-profit or rural/regional setting
  • A valid First Aid certificate
